The
work of internationally
established artists is being exhibited in a three month long viewing in
Jacksonville, Illinois thanks to a cooperative fund-raising effort
between
local artist Brian Sherwin and the Eclectic Artists Co-op &
Gallery. The
donated artwork will be auctioned or available for immediate purchase
beginning
February 1, coinciding with the Downton Gallery Hop, Friday, from 5-8pm. The work will also be
viewable on line at the
Eclectic website, http://www.eclecticartco-op.com/Auction. The work has been donated
in order to raise
money for Eclectic and various youth art programs that will be
conducted at the
Eclectic-- including funding for the Brian Sherwin Scholarship. The
scholarship
will give at least one area high school student per year an opportunity
to
display art at the Eclectic Gallery for three months with no charge to
the
student. The hope is that the scholarship and other youth art programs
at the
Eclectic will foster interest in art among local children and teens.
For
several months Mr.
Sherwin received contributions from artists he has befriended through
his
position as Senior Contributing Editor for myartspace.com-- a
networking site
for artists and art appreciators. Mr. Sherwin has obtained original art
from
several internationally recognized artists-- such as Chet Zar who is
known for
creating cover art, video props, and stage design for the band TOOL and
Elana
Gutmann who was recently voted as one of the Top 20 Artists to Watch by
ARTnews
Magazine.
The
work of 13
artists will
be on display beginning January 4, 2008 and continue throughout the
month. Check out the artists bios here.
The March Gallery Hop, Friday, March 7, will be the final month of the three month long viewing of these international art works. We will announce the buyers and top bidders on this evening. The works will stay on display for the remainder of the month for the public’s enjoyment.
