CC GODAR

'I am an artist....As far as I know, that word means 'I am seeking, I am striving, I am in it with all my heart.' ' ~Vincent Van Gogh

CC has been drawing and painting since she was old enough to grab a crayon and scribble on the walls.  At age 5, when her family lived in California, one of her finger-paintings was chosen to hang in a display of kindergarten artwork at the San Diego Museum of Art.  Growing up (mostly around Greene County), she enjoyed showing her drawings, paintings, and photography in Central Illinois county fair art exhibits.

CC graduated from North Greene High School in 1971.  She attended college at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville and Parkland College in Champaign, but it wasn't until she enrolled in Illinois Central College in East Peoria that she decided to major in art.  She holds an Associate in Applied Sciences: Graphic Design and an Associate in Art from Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, Illinois.

In the mid-1980s she won a competition to design the Greene County flag.  She painted with the Jacksonville Art League for a few years and participated in a group show with them at the Strawn Gallery. Later she did an oil painting of the old Liberty Church that was being moved to the Prairieland Heritage Center grounds and donated it to the group to be auctioned off to help raise funds for the project.

Her work has been featured in solo and group shows at Lincoln Land Community College, the Imagine Gallery (Jacksonville, IL), and The Eclectic Gallery where she is a charter co-op member.
Her paintings are in private collections across the Midwest, as well as in Colorado and Australia.

CC paints what she loves best:  disappearing remnants of the past and the beauty of the landscapes she discovers in her travels.  She also accepts commissions for farm, home, and pet portraits. While she paints mostly in a realistic style using acrylics or oils, she loves to experiment with different media, including collage and watercolor.
